The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Najeem Yasin, has appealed to kidnappers of the union’s National Secretary, Sunny Nwakodo, to release him.

Mr. Yasin made the appeal in an interview with journalists in Abuja on Friday.
Mr. Nwakodo, who is also the Chairman of the Abia branch of NURTW, was said to have been kidnapped on Tuesday in the state while returning home.
The NURTW president said, “I want to appeal to the kidnappers to please, for the sake of his family, whoever is involved for whatever, should release him so that he can be with his family.”
On security in motor parks across the nation, he urged the union members to be alert and security conscious and report suspicious persons or objects to security agencies.
Mr. Yasin said that the National Executive of the union met recently in Abuja and discussed the security challenges in various parts of the country.
He added that members in various branches had been directed to hold regular meetings and strategize for the parks to be safe for travellers and others.
