Nigerians tricked into selling kidneys in Indian hospitals share horrible tales

He emerged from his room in a red T-shirt and blue denim on Sunday, August 3, 2014 in a state of despair and sober reflection. Slowly settling down in a white plastic chair in the hotel lobby where he had agreed to speak with reporters, he told a rather unusual story of his ordeal in the hands of his close friend who lured him into selling one of his kidneys for just $7,500 (N1.2m). That was 2008.

However, before he could talk, reporters had to part away with N10,000, N5,000 paid in cash and the other N5,000 for exotic drinks and meal.

Not knowing that his friend, who had also become an agent in the international organ trade market, was only mindful of what would flood his bank account, he went headlong into deciding that he would do his friend’s bidding.

Performance: Presidency blasts Fashola for attacking Jonathan

LECTURE: From left; Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State and Chief Timipre Sylva at the 50th birthday lecture in honour of the former Bayelsa State Governor at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja yesterday.

THE Presidency yesterday carpeted Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State for accusing President Goodluck Jonathan’s government of being inactive for three years, saying the governor might have been occupied in his state to know the achievements of the administration.
At a briefing in Abuja, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, who admitted that there were some challenges, insisted that the government was giving its best attention to the problems.

Okupe was reacting to comments by Governor Fashola during a lecture at the 50th birthday celebration of former Governor Timipre Sylva.
Fashola was quoted as saying “this government had been inactive for 3 years and in the fourth year intends to give the electorate kerosene, price and money for the purpose of seeking their votes.”
However, according to Okupe, “it has become necessary for us to respond to some blatant and obvious lies, deliberate and skillful misinformation contained in the lecture given by Governor Raji Fashola at the 50th Birthday celebration of former Governor Timipre. Governor Fashola stated that “this government had been inactive for three years and in the fourth year intends to give the electorate kerosene, price and money for the purpose of seeking their votes. Nothing can be further from the truth than this. ‘

In a chat with The Sun, Nollywood actress Susan Peters opens up about life growing up, her definition of a true Nigerian, and habits by Nigerian drivers.

The “Bursting Out” star was also asked to advice ladies who step in the wrong direction to earn cheap social status.

First, I will say that we (women) are like flowers that blossom for sometimes, but after a while go down. If you misuse your body when you are growing up, it will definitely tell on you when you are ageing.

I advise young women not to misuse their body for monetary reasons. Secondly, I will advise them to go to school and try to complete their education. They should be well focused on a particular vocation and develop on it.
